When life is hard, the enemy tries to find ways to discourage us...typically, he will try to make us doubt that God cares...he wants us to feel like we've been abandoned. The best way to fight the enemy and those types of thoughts is to challenge them with the Word of God.
The Bible often talks about how God views His children and how often He thinks about them...how He knows them by name... Here are three such verses...
Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart...
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! (Isaiah 43:1).
“He calls his own sheep by name” (John 10:3).
Reading those verses is such a great reminder of how God feels about us. The Creator of the Universe has known us since before we were in our mother's wombs and He knows us so well, He calls us by name...
I have a22 year-old son. Perhaps you are also a parent. If so, you probably picked out a name for your child before they were born. I started calling my son by his name while he was still in the womb. I knew him and loved him before he could love me. Our Heavenly Father loves us in the same way. When I saw my son for the first time, I was filled with the most overwhelming sense of love. I didn't know such love was possible... then I realized that God loves him even more than I do and that forever changed the way I viewed God's love for us... His love is beyond anything our minds can begin to comprehend... He loved us enough to send His son Jesus to die for us,...there is no other love that will ever measure up to that!
If you are going through difficulties, I pray you will find comfort today as you think about what it means to be God's child. Some parents may abandon their children, but God will never abandon us. We matter to Him...A shepherd looks after His sheep...he will go looking for one that is missing...He sleeps with them and protects them and provides for them...It's true that the Lord is Our Shepherd and we are his sheep...but even more than that, He is our Abba Father and we are His children and He will not turn His back on us, especially in our hour of need... Even when God seems silent, we can trust His Word that He will never leave or forsake us and He will be with us forever and nothing can separate us from His love.
Dear Lord: Thank you for your love for us. It is more than we can comprehend and we are beyond grateful to be able to call you Abba Father! May everyone reading these words feel your nearness...may they be filled to overflowing with peace, joy and love when they think about how much they are loved by you. Thank you for being a faithful and good Father. Please meet each need and we thank you in advance for all you will do. In the name of Jesus we pray...Amen
This is such an incredibly touching and moving video of Tommy Walker's song, "He Knows My Name"
