For those who have followed or known me for many years, you will have heard this story. I pray you will still rejoice with me, even though you have heard it before...Every few years I feel compelled to share our story again, just to give glory to the Lord and to offer hope and encouragement to others.
Today is my son's birthday. The last 23 years have passed like the blink of an eye, but the joy and gratitude in my heart are as new and fresh as the day he was born.
I lost 3 children before I became pregnant with Ryan. My pregnancy with him was touch and go from the very beginning. I was on bed rest the whole nine months. I was bleeding the first 4 months and started having contractions and became dilated at 4/12 months. I was hospitalized 6 different times, I had a home monitor that was strapped across me just like at the hospital to monitor him. I had a pump attached to my leg to give me medication to stop the contractions. Thinks looked very bleak and I was told that my son only had a 5% chance of being born....
But our God still does miracles friends...things happen when God's people pray...many people prayed for me and my son... God heard those prayers...I will be forever grateful for God's goodness, grace and mercy and for every person who offered up prayers on our behalf.
I share this story on Ryan's birthday because I think it's important to give glory to God for what He has done. I want to express my gratitude and give Him praise for the incredible gift He has given me... I want to give hope to others... I want to remind everyone that it doesn't matter what odds you are given or what is stacked against you, when God wants something to happen...God has the final word in all things, He is still in control and He is still doing miracles!
As many of you know Ryan has multiple disabilities... the Lord knew Ryan before He was in my womb...He had a plan for his life... The Lord knew that because of the troubled pregnancy and because of all we have gone through with his disabilities, that we could help others going through the same things...he knew we could offer help, encouragement and hope...God truly has wasted nothing that we have been through... my son is a miracle...He is proof that God hears prayers and He makes a way where there seems to be no way...
I don't know what you are facing today, but I want to encourage you to trust the Lord with the hard things that are happening in your life...He is faithful...He is still on the throne...He is the same yesterday, today and forever...His promises are still true and things aren't over until He says they are over...God is still turning messes into messages, tests into testimonies and trials into triumphs! We have hope, because of Jesus!
