Waiting On God
Waiting on God for answers to our prayers is one of the hardest things we face in this life...and everyone must face waiting...it's not a question of if it will happen, because we all will be called on to wait during our life time...the only question that remains, is how we will wait. Will we wait with bitterness, anger, discouragement, or fear in our heart... or with an eager anticipation of what God is going to do... knowing that God has promised to take care of us, to meet our needs and to want only the best for us. Like so many things in life, we have no control over waiting, but we do have control over how we will react when we are waiting. You may feel like you are the only person that has had to wait. It may seem to you, like God has abandoned you or forgotten you, because you've had to wait for what seems to you, like an unreasonable amount of time. The Bible is full of examples though, of many great people of faith who had to wait many, many years to see the fulfillment of God's promises in their lives. Think of Noah...he had 120 years to wait before the flood came and God fulfilled his promise. Abraham had been promised he would be the father of many nations, but he was 100 and Sarah 90, before they had their son Issac. Joseph endured many years as a slave and then languished in prison, before he saw the fulfillment of God's revelations to him. These are just a few examples. God is never in a hurry... but He is always on time!
What can we learn in our waiting? We can learn more of God Himself. We are not alone in our waiting...He is with us. We learn to trust Him like never before...and we can only trust someone that we know well and who has proven themselves. We truly learn to trust God, when our faith has been tried and tested and we have first hand knowledge of His faithfulness... we learn to trust that He sees things that we can't see...He sees the bigger picture of our lives, from beginning to end and we learn that His timing is perfect. Never late...never early...just always right on time...to work for our good and His glory and to achieve His purposes in our lives. We learn to lean on Him and not on our own understanding of things. We learn to live without fear. We learn to walk by faith beyond what we see in our circumstances. We learn that God is faithful and true to His word.

"Wait While God Works" from the sermon series "You'll Get Through This" about the life of Joseph, by Max Lucado
Charles Stanley gives this message on March 25, 2012... In order to grow as believers, you and I must learn to wait on the Lord. When we surrender to His timing, He does mighty things in and for us, according to His will and His timing. God acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.
